On Sunday I was able to make my first village visit. I had asked Carol (fellow missionary) if I could go to church with her... it turned out to be an all day adventure! We left Narok at 9am and returned at 10:30pm. It was a good day to see this beautiful country--I saw zebras, wildebeests, gazelle, impalas, ostriches, donkeys, and an elephant! I felt like we were on a safari, but really we were just driving to church!
One of our AH staff, Joseph (the one on the right) got married yesterday! Here he is Sunday in traditional Maasaii dress. We picked he and his friend up along the way and took them part of the distance they were traveling.
There was one more in the back that you can't see--plus 3 of us in the front of the truck!
Carol was going to Olosirua to meet with the women of the church. Carol does women's ministry with AfricaHope. She is only here until November or December of this year, so if you have a heart for women's ministry--come be part of our team!
Here is the school where we met with the women of Olosirua. We arrived late (in the afternoon rather than morning) because of many factors, so we were only there a few hours. The women said that they were very interested in having Carol and others come back to meet with them, so they scheduled a follow-up visit and will make the trek there again on Friday.
I wish you could have seen this! We all got out of the car and the driver didn't think we could make it across, but we didn't have much of a choice! With some careful calculation (and prayer) we made it!
You might not be able to read it, but the white sign in the middle of the picture has the sign for the turn-off to AfricaHope. I live down this road right up the hill from the Hope Center.
