It's FREEZING!

Alright, not literally freezing, but it's all of the sudden winter here in Kenya! We're layering up. Every morning this week I've laughed at what my co-workers and I have on to keep warm!  I think the actual temperature is in the 60's, maybe 50's in the early morning--so you might say that's not so bad, but we're wearing socks with our skirts (big fashion faux-pas, I know!), tights, sweaters, scarves, lesos. I tend to be cold-blooded in general, (I had a small heater under my desk in Florida!) so I'm feeling the temperature change--even indoors. Because it never gets to actual freezing temperatures (that I know of) and because many places don't have electricity (or if they do it's pretty expensive), we don't have indoor heat.

Kenyans are funny, though, because many, even on hot days will have really formal suits on or heavy jackets, big sweaters or stocking caps! Parents layer their kids even in the heat of summer with so many clothes that they walk around stiffly--so now that it is actually cold outside, we're really cold =)

INTERNS
The intern team L-R: Richard (AH driver), Christy (she is from my church in FL!), me, Elise, Matt, Elizabeth, Jackson (AH staff), and a teacher from the local school.

Our NMSI intern team is here! They came at the end of May and have been in the bush almost since they arrived. They are troopers! They are sleeping in the village--kind of like they are camping but they are sleeping on the ground in small wooden houses and loving every minute of it! They are teaching in the local school and connecting with the surrounding villages. They'll come back to Narok and hot showers this weekend.
